Draw a free-form or complex shape
— SVG free-form path
The element is the most powerful SVG primitive. It draws any shape using the d attribute, which contains a series of commands: M (move to), L (line to), C (cubic Bezier curve), Z (close path).
When to use it
You want to draw a shape that is not a simple circle, rectangle, or polygon: a custom icon, a logo, a chart line, an organic shape. Most SVG icons are elements.
What you gain
Accessibility: a alone has no semantics. If the shape conveys information, wrap it in an with
and <desc>, or in a <g> with aria-label.
Code example

Validated
